Album of the week: Mark Ronson & The Business Intl "Record Collection"

Mark Ronson is back with a new album, this time under “Mark Ronson & The Business Intl”. It`s party time again. Ronson, who did excellent work as producer for people like Adele, Daniel Merriweather, Nas, Christina Aguilera, Duran Duran and of course was the mastermind behind Amy Winehouse, is releasing his new album 3 years after “Version”.

The Grammy and Brit award winner recorded the new album in Brooklyn and got lots of fantastic guest vocalists singing for him. On “Bang Bang Bang”, which was the first single, you hear Q-Tip and MNDR (she plays keyboards for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. “Lose it (in the end)” features Ghostface Killah on vocals and Mark sings himself. Not that bad. “The Bike Song” which is also available as single, is sung by The View singer Kyle Falconer. The best song on the album is “Somebody To Love Me”, which was written by Mark with Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Cathy Dennis, Anthony Rossomondo (Dirty Pretty Things) and Andrew Wyatt (Miike Snow). The superb song features Wyatt and the legendary Boy George on vocals! Wonderful!

Lots of other artists contributed to the album like D`Angelo, Duran Duran, Jonathan Pierce (The Drums), Nick Hodgons (Kaiser Chiefs), Rose Elinor Dougall (great voice from The Pipettes). It`s a great collection of songs which doesn`t feel like an artist album, more like a best of 2010! Also the few instrumental songs are fantastic.

The album is also available in a fantastic 7″ box set, comprising of the full 14 tracks on seven individual discs with bespoke artwork. Ronson will tour the UK, starting today in Bristol.
