The Gadsdens and their beautiful sailor song

What a nice cute song and video. The East London band The Gadsdens release their first single “The Sailor Song” by the end of November. The band consists of Jody (vocals), Simon (piano/ keyboards), Barney (guitar), David (drums) and Jihea (Bass).  The band formed in 2007 in Hackney.  After discovering similar musical tastes they decided to work together on the score for an independent film that Simon was working on at the time. Their cover of Bronski Beat’s “Small Town Boy” was born and the future of The Gadsdens was cemented. Jody`s voice is fantastic, he has a wonderful vibrato and the the first single is a great piece of pop music.

The Gadsdens are influenced by their love and appreciation of artists such as Kate Bush, Rufus Wainwright and The Cardigans. British music mag NME picked the band as one of the best unsigned acts of 2007, and  the band accepted the invitation to play an acoustic set on one of the BBC’s “Introducing” shows.

The video to the song is a beautiful animated one, created by the very talented Gavin Leisfield:

“The Sailor Song” will be released on the 29th of November 2009 in the UK.
